To mark our 15th anniversary, Delphine Papiernik, founder of the brand, shares her thoughts.
“I am from the land of my childhood.”
said psychoanalyst Maud Mannoni. My childhood memories have stayed with me!
Family vacations, summer camps, endless laughter, giggles, and mischief.
After a career as a collection director
for legendary brands
(Huit, Dim, Kenzo, Petit Bateau, and Kickers),
I was driven by a desire to be free to make my own choices
and to work with my family.
Little by little, a crazy idea took shape:
to set up my own business to create clothes
that would stand the test of time and the playground.
They would be comfortable, soft, poetic, and reassuring,
so that children could live their best lives.
The clothes will be part of a responsible and ethical fashion movement
and will be manufactured in family workshops in Portugal and India.
To be free to create fashion that forges bonds, tells stories, and cultivates laughter.

Emile et Ida was founded in 2010.
I designed the first collections on Île de Ré during my vacation.
Emile, my father, supported me in this adventure that began in the shed at the bottom of the garden.
I surrounded myself with people, the team grew,
we expanded and moved to the historic clothing district in Paris.
Finally, Emile et Ida opened a store on Île de Ré, followed by two more in Paris.
In 2017, our first women's collection was launched.
The brand also became available at Le Bon Marché, Galeries Lafayette,
and nearly 400 retailers around the world (USA, China, Europe).
Meanwhile, the team is growing (today there are 15 of us!).
We are a team of passionate individuals who seek out information,
explore issues in depth, and refine our thinking
and practices on ethics and social responsibility.
Little by little, our journey is taking shape and a deadline is looming:
to celebrate our 15th anniversary by becoming a mission-driven company
that will formalize the commitments
we have made since the brand's inception. We are rolling up our sleeves!
At the end of 2024, the first carbon assessment will be carried out
and we will write our purpose and commitments into our articles of association:
"CREATING A CLOSET FOR HAPPY DAYS, SUSTAINABLE AND POETIC,
THAT CELEBRATES THE UNIQUENESS OF EACH INDIVIDUAL AND HUMAN CONNECTIONS."
Summer 2025 will see the launch of the “second-hand” tab on our website.
In 2026, the proportion of organic cotton will continue to increase and will represent 50% of the materials used in our collections.
The adventure continues...
By 2027, we are working to obtain B-Corp certification,
an international label awarded to companies
that meet the highest social and environmental standards.
